Pregnancy and Post-Natal Fitness
Pregnancy is a wonderful time when your body is going through a lot of changes. Some women seem to breeze through the whole pregnancy and some find it a difficult and challenging time. All pregnancies are different and individual reactions to each pregnancy can also differ a lot so we never take anything for granted.
You can continue exercising right throughout your pregnancy depending on your exercise and medical history. Each trimester requires some alterations and modification to help you stay safe and be the best you can be through your pregnancy in preparation for the big day.
There will be some days through your pregnancy when you will just not feel up for exercise and that's fine - it maybe that your body is telling you to rest. Generally however exercising through your pregnancy will at the very least enhance your sense of wellness and can lead to a more comfortable delivery and recovery.
It is a well known fact that moderate levels of exercise increase your energy levels - so if you're feeling exhausted by your pregnancy it may be that you're not getting enough exercise. The other benefit of continuing to exercise during pregnancy is that your body will recover much faster from the pregnancy and birth. After the birth we can help you to recover and regain or even improve your pre-pregnancy shape and fitness levels.
We also offer a nutrition plan which includes eating smaller meals more often (aiming for low-glycaemic carbohydrates rather than foods that will drain you of energy) and of course working with you to ensure you are getting the right type of nutrition for your growing child such as folic acid, Essential Fatty Acids and the optimum range of vitamins and minerals.
