"I started training at Fitshape 18 months ago after my wife had noticed the Gym in Muswell Hill and
thought it would be great for me. She was right!I run a small company providing expert advice all over the world, so I have to travel a lot and am constantly losing sleep, suffering from jet lag, and eating and drinking too much. Fit shape has proved to be the right antidote for this life style: regular and well planned exercise, both before and after travel, combined with advice on diet, stretching, and how to stay fit working out in a hotel room, have all helped me stay fresh, fit, and healthy during the busiest of times.
My free consultation was very helpful in both introducing me to the world of personal training and helping me to assess what I wanted to achieve and how to get started. I have had regular sessions with several members of the Fitshape team and I like the variety of working different trainers at different times. I have settled into specific patterns at different times of year. In the winter I train twice or three times a week (often early in the morning) and in the summer I train once a week, and play lots of tennis. I know three or four of the Fitshape team very well now, and they know what I want to achieve and what will work best for me. Most sessions combine cardio, flexibility and agility, stretching, strength, and building the core muscle groups that are often ignored. Because my performance in the gym is monitored and recorded closely there are always new mini-targets each week, with a focus on extending my personal best all of the time.
3 months into my training at Fitshape I tore the Medial Ligament badly in my left knee during a tennis match on a wet court. The team at Fitshape adjusted all my workouts to aid my recovery, strengthen my balance and agility for the future, and keep going on the fitness despite not being able to exercise my left leg. They also found me an excellent physiotherapist who worked with me and them on my recovery programme.
Since the beginning of this year, with my leg recovered, I have focused on weight loss, agility, and stamina. I set a target of 3 stones to lose and I am half way there. The Fitshape team have designed my workouts, advised on diet and life style, and also created many mini-targets that I can achieve week by week and month by month. Nigel, the Gym Director and Owner, is an expert on weight loss and fitness and he has kept me focussed on small improvements each week so that I can reach my target weight in a way which is sustainable.
So far I have introduced various people to the gym and they have all really enjoyed it. One person I introduced to the gym is my tennis partner and he is now so quick and agile around the tennis court that we have both raised our game. Fitshape really works for me, and I would recommend it to anyone who finds they need extra encouragement to drive them to their fitness goals."

"In august 2010, I knew I had to get fitness back into my life. I lacked energy, confidence and was overweight;
working in healthcare I knew I had to do something about it. All of this from a woman who never owned a pair of trainers! I knew I didn't want to join one of the big gyms. After some research I found "Fitshape" on my doorstep and made an appointment for a
consultation. It seemed the right place for me so I joined for 6 weeks - if I didn't like it, it was only 6 weeks but I hoped it would motivate me.After 6 weeks I began to notice some changes to my energy levels so I decided to continue - even the dark cold nights didn't stop me!
I booked a holiday to India and Bhutan which involved lots of walking, mainly steep hills, so I decided to increase my training to help me with this 6 weeks before departure. During the holiday I noticed that my summer clothing was loose - I'd lost 5-6 kg without realising! After the holiday I continued my sessions and added a weekly hour walk in.
Now over a year on I have lost 13kg, I'm fitter and have more energy and confidence. I promised the girls I work with that if I was a dress size smaller I would go to the Christmas party: well girls, I'm 2 sizes down!
Thanks to Fitshape I've found a great way to get my health back on track - my first concern. Also thanks to Pete, who pushes me beyond what I thought I could achieve. The sessions are never the same and they are always hard work, but there is always time for a laugh and a joke which makes the training fun. Even when I arrive feeling low I'm always smiling when I leave, and he knows when a maintenance session is needed rather then a full on workout.
I have learnt about nutrition and diet which is important to me as I have always had a bad relationship with food.
I would recommend Fitshape to anyone to wants to get fit, doesn't want to join a big gym but needs 1 on 1 training and the support and motivation it gives."
